Be Prepared: Why Every Household Needs an Emergency Kit
With the rise in natural disasters, power outages, and growing geopolitical tensions, the governments of many countries strongly advise keeping an emergency kit on hand.
In the event of a blackout, evacuation, or disrupted supply chains, having a well-stocked emergency kit can help you stay self-sufficient and safe for several days — without relying on outside assistance. Preparation isn’t panic — it’s protection. Make sure your household is ready.
- First aid kit (bandages, compresses, alcohol...)
- Medicines
- Battery-run radio to follow instructions of authorities (+ backup batteries)
- Basic tools (multifunction knife, can opener)
- Non-perishable food (that does not need to be cooked (preserved food, baby food, pet food...))
- Warm clothing & survival blanket
- Torches (with spare batteries), candles, lighter or matches
- Charger (mobile phone charger)
- Cash (ATMs may not work)
- Plenty of drinking water (6 litres per person in bottles)
- Glasses (emergency pair)
- Photocopies essential documents in a waterproof pocket (identity card, prescriptions, etc.)
- Games to pass the time
- Powerbank
- Spare keys house & car keys (+ back up batteries)
