VARTA shows innovative energy solutions for the future at LOPEC 2023

VARTA will present a broad product portfolio at the leading trade fair for printed electronics in Munich. A special focus this year is on an innovation project in the field of printed batteries, which will provide the necessary energy in numerous future applications.

Printed electronics is one of the key technologies of the 21st century and offers interesting prospects for the future of battery technology. VARTA, as an innovation leader in important areas of the battery industry, started research and development of products in this field early on. Today, the result are printed batteries with an ultra-thin structure that are characterized by a high pulse load capacity. The target markets are in emerging areas such as Smart Living, Smart Medicals, Smart Sports or in Logistics 4.0.

"Printed batteries will play an important role in the future, especially in the Internet-of-Things sector and its applications. Sustainability and security aspects that are solved or improved by this are the focus. This applies, for example, to smart labels, which can only collect important data from goods in transit by using a printed battery and can communicate via LTE. This saves time and money. The area of application for these labels ranges from freight transport and air freight to global shipping," says Rainer Hald, CTO VARTA AG.

In his keynote, Rainer Hald will talk about the innovations in the field of printed batteries and give an overview of the applications that can benefit from these innovations. The presentation will take place on Thursday, 2nd March 2023 at 10:15 a.m., at Messe München, International Congress Center, room 14b.

In addition to Printed Batteries, VARTA will showcase its products in other different electrochemical systems such as rechargeable nickel metal hydride button cells, primary silver oxide cells, primary lithium button cells, cylindrical lithium batteries to hydrogen gas generation cells and primary VARTA Alkaline INDUSTRIAL PRO batteries. They enable a wide range of digital applications in various fields. For example, they are used in smart patches and smart pills, in intelligent measurement, security and monitoring systems, or in intelligent sensor technology.

The portfolio also includes the VARTA lithium-ion CoinPower series. At the end of last year, the fifth generation of the A version was launched, which has up to 15% more capacity than its predecessor cells. Thanks to optimized electrochemistry, more active material in the coin cell leads to even higher energy densities. This series also features excellent cycle stability. With the new A5 CoinPower generation, the technology company from Germany offers a product with great potential for future-driven innovations in the TWS and wearables sector.

LOPEC is the leading industry platform for printed electronics, bringing together business and technology. It represents the complete value chain with exhibitors and speakers from all over the world, for a holistic market overview.

You will find VARTAs battery experts at the Munich trade fair from 1st to 2nd March 2023 in hall B0, booth 308.
