Ellwangen, 05 August 2025 - VARTA AG has published its annual report for fiscal year 2024. Revenue fell to EUR 793.2m (previous year: EUR 820.3m). EBITDA amounted to EUR -3.5m (previous year: EUR 25.5m), while adjusted EBITDA - VARTA AG's key performance indicator - reached EUR 30.6m (previous year: EUR 50.4m). This mainly reflects the financial impact of the operational restructuring and one-off effects in connection with the cyber-attack in February 2024.

CEO Michael Ostermann: "2024 was a year of change for VARTA AG. With the successfully completed StaRUG proceedings and the completed financial and operational realignment, we have created the conditions to put the company back on a profitable and sustainable course. The task now is to continue on this course with a clear strategic focus, operational discipline and the consistent further development of VARTA AG - together with our employees, without whom none of this would be possible."

In the course of the necessary realignment, the shareholder structure of VARTA AG was also adjusted - with Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and Montana Tech Components as strong anchor shareholders. This is also reflected in the newly elected Supervisory Board. At its constituent meeting in June 2025, Günther Apfalter, who has been a member of the Board since July 2023, was elected Chairman. The Supervisory Board combines international experience and expertise with foresight and transformational strength.

"VARTA AG has a strong technological foundation and the opportunity to position itself clearly in strategically relevant future markets. I look forward to shaping this path together with the Supervisory Board, the Management Board and the entire workforce," said Günther Apfalter, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VARTA AG.

VARTA AG is looking to the future. The focus is now on the further development of the existing business, where sustainable profitability and growth have top priority. The company is creating the necessary conditions for this - through flexible management of existing resources, consistent cost discipline and targeted investments in technology and infrastructure. “The aim is to sustainably strengthen VARTA AG's competitiveness and further expand our position as the European technology leader in the field of innovative energy storage solutions,” says CEO Michael Ostermann. “The focus here is on the consistent further development of our core business - particularly in the high-margin areas of micro and household batteries as well as stationary energy storage systems.”

VARTA AG continues to focus on expanding its Power Pack Solutions division and develops customized battery solutions for industrial and commercial applications in close cooperation with customers - flexible, technology-neutral and “Made in Europe”. The company is also tapping into new business and technology fields, including sustainable cell technologies, scalable modular storage systems and practical solutions for energy infrastructure. With this strategic focus, VARTA is strengthening its technological relevance in the European market and at the same time creating new impetus for profitable growth.
