VARTA AG extends cooperation with the German Deaf Sports Association

VARTA AG is continuing its support of the German Deaf Sports Association, which will once again be taking part in the Deaflympics with a team of around 180 squad athletes. Almost 3,000 participants are expected for the 24th edition of the competition, which will take place from 1 to 15 May in Caxias do Sul, Brazil.

For several years, VARTA AG, together with its hearing aid batteries brand power one, has been sponsoring the German Deaf Sports Association to support people with hearing loss. The partnership is intended to assist with individual support for athletes, help with the purchase of sports-specific equipment to increase technical skills and create additional infrastructure for nutritional advice or coaching.

The aim of the association is to prepare the competitive athletes for participation in international sporting events in a goal- and performance-oriented manner and to have them successfully complete their training. In addition, the association has made the work with young talents a priority in order to slowly introduce young talents to the European and world elite in deaf sports.

The German Deaf Sports Association is the umbrella organisation for sports with hearing-impaired people. The focus at national level is on holding German championships in all of the 23 sports offered by the association.

Torsten Schmerer, General Manager Microbatteries at VARTA: "The cooperation with the German Deaf Sports Association has always been a special concern for us. We are pleased to be able to support the performance of the athletes and the association through this cooperation. Reliably top performance is part of VARTA's DNA, and the partnership brings this to life. We compete every day to offer the best performance with our products such as hearing aid batteries.
