VARTA today welcomed teams from Aalen University of Applied Sciences (E-Motion), Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (Delta Racing), Darmstadt University of Technology (DART Racing) and Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (StarkStrom) to Nördlingen to discuss mobility and technology topics of the future.

50 members of the four teams were able to test their racing vehicles during training runs on the airfield grounds. VARTA engineers and technicians, as specialists in battery technologies and battery management systems, offered on-site opportunities to exchange ideas with the drivers and developers. The VARTA Afterseason Raceday is intended to function as a platform that promotes and advances discourse on the technical challenges of mobility.

Dr. Markus Hackstein, Member of the Executive Board and responsible for E-Mobility at VARTA AG: "The Afterseason Raceday is a great opportunity to exchange ideas away from everyday business. We want to pass on our knowledge and at the same time we learn from the young talents and gain further insights into driving technologies. Exchange and communication are the top priorities at events like this. The future is becoming more and more complex and good solutions that bring a noticeable change come with interdisciplinary collaboration."

VARTA is a specialist in battery technologies and has always been researching future-proof battery solutions that make our lives even better. The VARTA Solutions team focuses on batteries and battery management systems for industrial applications such as robots or autonomous driving vehicles, for example for agriculture.

Last year, VARTA launched a new battery that can make a difference in applications and devices that need a lot of power instantly. The round cell, based on lithium-ion technology, can be used in power tools, in drones and also in driving concepts for high-performance vehicles from the premium sector. The cell can deliver and reabsorb energy faster compared to other products.

All Formula Student teams develop and build the cars themselves and compete with them against the other teams around the world. The competition is not won by the team with the fastest car, but by the team with the best overall package of design, performance, financial and sales planning.
