VARTA starts cloud solutions for Application Specific Batteries

A user dashboard will make it easy for customers to monitor their batteries online. The cloud services will be expanded even further in the future.

Users of application- or customer-specific battery solutions from VARTA now have the option of monitoring their batteries online. As an intelligent extension for more transparency and optimization, the Ellwangen-based technology company has developed a user dashboard that shows all the important KPIs of the battery online, such as the state of charge, health or the temperature of the battery management system. The storage of this data in the cloud makes it possible to monitor the status of the batteries installed in the various applications at different locations - conveniently from the workplace.

Gordon Clements, General Manager VARTA Solutions, says: "With the possibility of cloud services, VARTA has reached another milestone. However, this is only the beginning. With the help of the data, it will be possible in the future to recognize patterns and errors even faster or identify anomalies in the operation of the batteries before they occur. This leads to an increase in the life expectancy of the battery and a reduction in operating costs. Another advantage of cloud service is that there is a better understanding of the benefits of the battery, which will lead to more cost-effective solutions for certain user groups in the long run. And it opens up opportunities for new business models, such as a rental system in which the customer only pays for the energy that the battery delivers in a certain period of time."

The front-end solution can be integrated directly into the device manufacturer's existing solution via API interfaces in order to have a central point of contact for simple and intuitive use.

With the Application Specific Batteries "Easy Block" and "Easy Blade", VARTA offers the first modular smart batteries available off the shelf. They are designed for use in small and medium-sized vehicles such as driverless transport systems and forklifts. These rechargeable lithium batteries are modular and expandable and can therefore be adapted for applications in industries such as logistics, agriculture, mobility and many others. Customers receive a ready-to-use battery solution, including all necessary accessories and certifications.
