VARTA AG moving up: shares included on both MDAX and TecDAX

As announced by Deutsche Börse on December 04, 2019, VARTA shares are now to be included on both the MDAX and TecDAX. The MDAX comprises the 60 “medium-sized” German stock companies (Aktiengesellschaften) across all industries, which, in terms of market capitalization and stock market order book volume, rank directly below the 30 DAX entities. In addition, Deutsche Börse has also approved the inclusion of VARTA shares on the TecDAX. This index includes the 30 largest, most lucrative German technology companies based on trading volume. Varta shares have also been listed on the SDAX – the share index for Small Caps – since March 18, 2019. The newly composed index will take effect as of December 23.

Herbert Schein, CEO of VARTA AG: “I am delighted with VARTA AG’s double inclusion on both the MDAX and the TecDAX. With more than 130 years’ experience in battery technology, we have now assumed a prime, global position as technology and innovation leaders at the forefront of our market segments. Our intention is to shape the future of battery technology on the back of substantial investments in research and development.”

CFO Steffen Munz adds: “Our rapid ascent to the MDAX and additional inclusion on the TecDAX represents further proof of the appeal of the VARTA share. Since the IPO in 2017, the share price has increased more than sixfold, making the VARTA share one of the best performing stocks in 2019. We will now appeal to even larger, global investor groups.”
